Frequently asked questions

Using a Digital Signature Certificate on ICEGATE for customs filing.

What DSC do I need for ICEGATE?

ICEGATE requires a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate to file and sign customs documents such as bills of entry and shipping bills. It must be registered against your ICEGATE login before you can sign.

How do I register my DSC on ICEGATE?

Log in to ICEGATE, open the DSC registration or update option, plug in your token, and select your certificate so it is linked to your account. Once registered, the portal recognises your signature on filings.

What is the ICEGATE DSC utility and why do I need it?

It is the signing component ICEGATE uses so your browser can reach the certificate on your token and apply the signature to customs documents. Install the version ICEGATE provides and enable it before signing.

My DSC works elsewhere but not on ICEGATE. Why?

Usually the certificate is valid but not yet registered on ICEGATE, or the ICEGATE signing utility or extension is not installed or enabled. Register the DSC in your ICEGATE profile and install the portal's utility to resolve it.

Can a customs broker use one DSC for several clients?

A DSC identifies the person signing, so a broker signs with their own Class 3 certificate registered on ICEGATE. Authorisation to act for each importer or exporter is handled through ICEGATE, not by sharing a certificate.
